"Fayetteville and its citizens have added so much to my quality
of life; that it is with a great sense of appreciation that I ask for your
support in the upcoming election
." -
Alan Long
Alan is a native of Batesville, AR who has chosen Fayetteville as his permanent home. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in Communication in 2005 and U of A, Walton College of Business in 2007 with an MBA. Alan is currently a buyer for Newlyweds Foods, Inc. in Springdale, AR.

In recent years, Alan has been proactive in Waterman Woods POA and the Fayetteville Council of Neighborhoods. Alan regularly attends City Council meetings where he encourages neighborhood involvement in city government and the preservation of Fayetteville neighborhoods. Alan feels that thoughtful growth planning is the key to a thriving community. Just this year, Alan helped to stimulate conversations between the City and the University of Arkansas regarding strategic implementation of new developments. The combination of these conversations, in conjunction with thorough planning and comprehensive integration of a University overlay district, will help Ward 4, Fayetteville, and the University of Arkansas build a stronger relationship and a shared sense of community to move us into the future.

Alan has been a long-time advocate of animal welfare and was elected as the chairman of the Fayetteville Animal Services Advisory Board in 2010. In 2009, Alan was instrumental in starting The Friends of the Fayetteville Animal Shelter (FFAS), a local 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to supporting the needs of Fayetteville's animal shelter and helping raise community support and awareness for the humane treatment of animals. Alan's efforts helped raise over twelve thousand dollars to provide new outdoor dog runs, leashes, vaccinations and support for the city animal shelter. Alan hopes to bring this experience and knowledge to the city council so that Fayetteville can continue building a strong coalition dedicated to saving animal lives.
